Write a short comment here on how you think you did in your debating task. Remember not to be too hard on yourself - write some of the good things as well as one or two things you would like to improve on for next time.
I think I did quite well in my debating task. I was clear and quite loud, I always had a comeback to the person against me and I knew what I was saying! I think I could work on knowing what i'm saying a bit more, sometimes I paused when the person against me said something as I couldn't remember what to say, so I could work on that aswell!
I think i done OK on the debating task but i think my only good point was that i managed to get all my points across. I feel that i maybe could've spken louder and projected my voice more. if i could re do it i......DEFINETLEY WOULD!...
I think I did ok... I could've brought in more evidence! I seriously wasn't prepared for the cards, dress piece, and doctors note brought in (Thanks for that, Bob!). I think that instead of saying the same-ish things, I should've said what I origanaly planned ("I think I think Mrs Fairfax killed him because She was wearing red She smokes. You asked to be excused, went upstairs and killed him with a silver vase. You made it look like a struggle, opened the window (so it looked like someone broke in) and threw it out of the window. You calmly went downstairs, then opened and closed the door, so it seemed like you went out.") But if I could do it again, I would've brought in a medical encyclopedia. I really wasn't prepared for 'wolveranralnx', then to be asked I wasnt a doctor so how should I know about illnessed. I never knew we could do that! Secondly, I would've said what I needed to say, ie why I thought Mrs Fairfax was guilty. I think that would've helped me more in the case. Third, I would've RELAXED a bit more! Been a bit more confident. I was a wreck just before, and the blusing during it was awful! After all, its only infront of my teacher and class. Whats there to be nervous about? However, I think my good point are that I projected my voice, I sort of got my point across and I had good combacks to unexpected questions.
Safaa: dont worry! I could here you at the very back. I heard you like you were next to me. Storm: Agree with you. You could probably plan ahead and bring a bit of paper up to the front with the comebacks. I did (but up to a certain point I just started on my own).
i think i did ok in my speaking and listening. i was quite nervious about speaking in front of other people, because we are all just getting to know each other. if i could do it again i would. the thing i would do next time to improve would be to do a bit more preparing to make sure i knew exactly what i saying and when i was saying it!
i am quite pleased in how i did in my speaking and listening taak. i always had a comeback (no matter how stupid it was ie "why did you send a letter to mr crabtree saying alec meet me in the garden at eight" sophie : "urmm....buisness" "what buisness?" me: buisness.......stuff?)and helped my witness sophie out whenever she got stuck. i was well prepared and brought props and notes in and managed to catch the opposition out a few times. however, instead of looking down into my book all the time and reading it word for word i should have just glanced at it a couple of times and looked at the class. :D :) :P
I think I did ok on my debate because I asked some questions and listened to the other people talking and tried to argue against their comments. Although I didn’t win my case I tried to think on my feet and ask all the questions I needed to, but I should have asked more. Over all if I did it again I would have been less scared and would have asked more difficult questions.
I think two things I did well was back up Storm(Mrs Fairfax) and spoke loudly and clearly. I think i could have prepared a closing statement although that was a bit of a surprise as I thought Storm would have had to do it. so, over all, I think I did quite well.
I am quite happy with how i did considering that i was on my own with no one to back me up! I was debating against Storm (Mrs Fairfax)and i think i had some good points but then Alyssa and Storm always came back with really good points! If i could do it again i think i would plan out what i would say if someone managed to find another piece of evidence that covered mine, which Alyssa and storm did really well!
I think that i wasn't very good because I kept on interupting Kate. But I think I did quite well with making up reasons for Kate (Mrs Crabtree) actions. I could improve by being better at listening, not rushing my speech and not laughing!
I think I did ok on my debating task because I had very strong arguments to back up my points but I could have been louder. I could have looked more upset because sometimes I laughed. I am quite happy that I was found innocent because I had been worrying for a while about what was going to happen. I should have been more confident. If I could do the task again I will remember to project my voice. Me and my lawyer, Anniesa, were well prepared for the task as we remembered to bring lots of props.
@ Safa, I could hear you too! You were loud and clear. Well done!
I think everyone did great on the debating task so well done! :) :D ;)
I think i did ok with the debating task! I didn't say very much as was quite nervous (don't know why!), I didn't always have a come back but I think my voice was quite loud and that I projected it. I think for next time I would definately have some more come backs have my things to say for myself!
I think i did ok on my debating task. But it went a bit wrong. For example when Chloe said i smoked when i was happy and i said i smoked when i was angry, that didn't really work, and when i said i went outside at 11pm to do some people watching (even though there weren't any people outside) so i changed it to bird watching! And that just sounded wrong but i did mean birds with wings and NOT LADIES!So overall it went ok.
Lucy- I actually think you did well! Its almost like my mum and dad arguing (w/ you and kate, I mean). You were in your essance, and when Kate tried to get a word in edge ways the hand came up. I LOL'd alot! I think yours was good 'cause it was funny- and really, thats what you need in something that isnt that if you dont get a certain level, its not the end of the world. I think you shouldn't have laughed though. I just wonder the difference between you and kates levels... she didnt really speak much, but you did...
Frances- Yes, I agree! You did speak well when you did speak, but I was desparatly trying not to laugh while defending you! :-D (If it helps, I was possibly a bit more nervous than you! for the first 5 minutes I was thinking 'merde'!). I think (if me and you are together next time!) that we should bring a sheet of comebacks to the stupidest things with us.
catherine- I thought you ment bird as in a derogartry term for a woman? I got a bit confused though, with the 'smoking when Im happy' thing. Nevermind... if we have another assesment like this, you'll know for next time. say you had CCTV watching you. Or the maid if you're running out of witnesses.
Aqueeda- Sweet Zombie Jesus, I'll say! You were banging me into the ground lol! I never knew we could bring in props- wolverlarnyx? seriously? I'll have to remember that one. dy'reckon that Miss Alaukh will be fooled by that one? :-D
Ella- 2 words. Comeback. Sheet. Bring a few comebacks and questions up with you. Until you get into your stride, look down at the sheet occasionally. But I think you did well, especially to hard questions.
Phoebe- I didn't really think that was fair to you in your assesment. I think you should've been able to wait 'til skye came back. I think you did really well though, eventhough you had no barrister.. You had quick comebacks and I could hear you clearly.
Alyssa- agree.
Tasha- did I ever tell you I had a sister called tasha? Anyway, I think you did good, but could've had more facts and evidence to back it up. Like, private buisness that you weren't permitted (allowed) to speak of in court. That sort of thing that would've drove them into the ground and render their future questions useless. I only now realise how nerve wracking it is being up there. Under the cerc. I think you did really well!
Imogen- agree. You could always practise infront of a family member or reherse with your other. Bring your book or a cheat sheet up with you next time. :-)
Sorry its so long and probably going to be unhelpful to you lot, Im just really bored and have nothing else to do.
I think I did well in the debating task but I think I should have spoke more and question the questions given (if that makes sense!) I think I answered most of my questions quite well but I did struggle at times to think on my feet. That is probably why I was found guilty! Overall- 8/10
YAY! Finally got onto this blog thing! Anyways... I think I did well in the debating task because I was loud and my questions and answers were different and not scripted. Ella making the amazing evidence worked well for us so that's just a thank you to her! I think I could of prepared more and really have studied the text so I could of stated things better :)
@ Krista - !!! Your so funny, I did have strong arguments but I seriously thought that I had lost the case! I would say I was banging you into the ground...
I think i did'nt do that well in my debating task, and i would definetly prepare more and take and better look at the text and come up with more reason why i was not guilty if there was a next time. Also i would try not to laugh and i would make my voice louder and clearer.
I knew what I was saying and well I tried to speak loudly and clearly. I made sure I got my point across but I didn't cut people off. I did laugh a bit - I found it difficult to keep a straight face, but then the situation was quite funny (well, it was to me). If I could to it again, I would bring props in, prepare more lines and evidence and be more confident.
I think I did okayish . I enjoyed it but I didn't like standing in front of everyone at the start but then after a while I got used to it , because I was nervouse I forgot some facts and that Anne was Mr crabtree's wife
which was kind of idiotic.I think that lowered my mark.I had qute a bit of evidence that me and my partner made up and we also made a good allaaby beacause we had a lot of police statements.
Seeing as skye was not in school on that particular day, I believe our group did fairly well but could improve in some ways. These could include, prepare spare evidence for my side of the argument, stop the giggles, and make my side of the story more clear (since Olivia and I lost the debate). I did enjoy this task, but overall, I need try harder next time! :)
I think I did ok in the debate as I prepared some evidence to back up my points and questions but I if I was to do it again I would definitely talk loads more as I hardly said anything.I am also not very good at thinking on my feet!
I think I did okay on my debate because Alex and I did win our debate and I felt I had some valid points and I felt like I got my point across. I also thought that Lucy and Kate also made a good point however for both of our sides would have made a better debate if we had not laughed as much as we did.
I think i did alright in this task, but there was one thing i forgot to say when Mia asked me why i was meeting Mr crabtree, oh well I had alot of fun in this task, wish we did something like that in year 7 :)
I personally think I did awful! I wasnt prepared as I hadnt brought my things in (ooppss...:S) and the sheet I had to use was highlighted in a way that confused me totally! We also only had 3 people instead of 4 whereas we rehearsed it as a 4 which was even more confusing because I had no-one to compare the opposing side too. Hopefully my grade isnt too low though as I did speak loudly and clearly....
Thanks, storm. Now, after we have had our levels given to us, I think it would be interesting to see whether we are pleased or not.
I am actually really REALLY pleased. Because I was so nervous (and I thought it was showing) I thought that would drastically reduce my mark. I’m not really the type of person to launch into a verbal debate so fast. (I say verbal, but I could easily enough launch into a debate over a computer!) Honestly, I never thought I would get such a high mark. Me (and my parents) are dead pleased! Happy Halloween!

ReplyDeleteI personally think I did awful! I wasnt prepared as I hadnt brought my things in (ooppss...:S) and the sheet I had to use was highlighted in a way that confused me totally!
